Follow The Path of Integrity

Good morning!!
It's that time of the day...time to "apply our hearts to wisdom"!

We are reading Proverbs 10 today in the NLTse & NIV. My bold print is verse 9:

9- People with integrity walk safely, but those who follow crooked paths will slip and fall. (NLT)

9- The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out. (NIV)

Wow! Simple yet profound. Let's look at this closer!

The word integrity means: "adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character; honesty" (from dictionary.com). When you adhere to moral and ethical principles it doesn't matter what anyone thinks or says. You have chosen to "adhere" (defined as: "stay attached, stick fast, cleave, cling" ~ www.dictionary.com). I also love the quote: "integrity is what you do when no one else is looking".

Listen folks, its very easy to appear to have integrity when everyone is watching and the right choice is very obvious. But what integrity is really about is what you do when "no one else is watching" -- because it involves your character...who you really are inside. A great quote from Pastor AR Bernard: "Decisions are not made in a moment of time -- they are rooted in your character"!!

That's what verse 9 is addressing: if you walk in integrity then you can walk secure and not have to look over your shoulder. However, if you take crooked paths you will be found out!! Its all about our character, folks!!

Well, simply stated -- just like verse 9 -- walk in integrity today!! Its the safe & secure way!!
